Abstract

1489215 Disazo dyes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 23 Sept 1975 [14 Oct 1974] 44404/74 Heading C4P Novel water-soluble disazo dyes having the formula (where ring B may optionally be substituted by sulphonic and/or hydroxyl groups and E is a residue of Formula II or III where R<SP>1</SP> is H, or optionally substituted alkyl or aryl; R<SP>2</SP> is H or optionally substituted alkyl; R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> independently are H, C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy, hal, or acylamino; R<SP>5</SP> is H, alkyl, acyl or aryl optionally substituted by alkyl, alkoxy, hal, OH, or acylamino; p is 0-2 provided that the total number of SO 3 H groups does not exceed 3 and m is 0 or 1) are prepared by diazotizing a hydroxyaniline-o-sulphonic acid and coupling with an amino naphthalene, then diazotizing the aminomonoazo compound produced and coupling with the appropriate amino coupling component. The preferred dyes contain the sulphonic acid groups. The dyes are used for colouring synthetic polyamide in red, navy blue and other shades.
