Abstract

1488263 Frames for securing stacks of articles KO PRESSURE-FRAMES Ltd 21 April 1975 [24 July 1974] 32617/74 Heading B8C A four-sided holding frame 13 for securing a stack of articles 10 together, e.g. on a pallet is formed of L-section side members 15 joined end-to-end, each of the side members having a flange 17, for engaging a surface, e.g. the top, of the stack, and a depending lip 18 which is respectively inclined to the general plane of the frame and to a plane normal thereto at an angle, e.g. 5-10 degrees, so that the frame can be nested with other identical frames as in Fig. 3. The frame can be made from lengths of sheet metal with their corners 21 bent, as in Fig. 4, and riveted, bolted, welded or brazed together to produce the inclinations of the flanges and lips. If the material of the frame is resilient then when wires or straps (25) are tied around the stack as in Fig. 5 (not shown) the flange 17 and lip 18 of each member 15 are forced against the top and side of the stack and the frame tends to keep the wires or straps (25) under tension.
