Abstract

1,079,719. Seals. BORBE-WANNER A.G. Nov. 29, 1965 [Dec. 1, 1964], No. 50638/65. Heading B6P. A metallic seal blank S for joining the overlapping strap ends has a back plate 1 and outwardly-sloping flanges 2 and 3. Retaining means are provided so that when the blank is nested with similar blanks (Fig. 2), separation of a blank from the stack is only in a direction parallel to the lengthwise direction of the back plate 1-i.e. in the direction of the arrow A when removed from the bottom of the stack, and in the opposite direction when from the top. Retaining means at the front of the seal-blank comprises an ear 4 extending in the plane of the back plate 1 beyond the plane of each flange 2 or 3, which ear engages the bottom surface 5 of a notch 6 formed in each flange. One ear may be provided on one side of the seal blank instead of two as shown. At the rear of the seal blank, the retaining means comprises a lip portion 8, bent slightly downwards, which co-operates with at least one flap 9, bent inwardly from one or both of the flanges 2, 3. The corner 14 of a flap 9 bears against the, rear edge 10 of a notch 7, similar to the notch 6, when the seal-blanks are stacked (Fig. 3).
