Abstract

1487455 Fluid heaters BLACK SIVALLS & BRYSON Inc 23 Oct 1975 [21 March 1975] 43638/75 Heading F4S Fluid heater apparatus comprises burners 30, tubes 20 for containing the fluid to be heated, a firing wall 12, a back wall 14, side walls 16, 17, baffles 36 and chimney stacks 40. Each burner 30 is a high intensity combustion burner. The apparatus is such that portions of the combustion gases, after impinging on the back wall 14, impinge on the baffles 36 and recirculate around the heating tubes as shown. Combustion gases are withdrawn below the baffles 36 and through the chimneys 40. The tubes 20 form two banks 25, 27 each bank having an inlet 24 and an outlet (26), Fig. 2 (not shown). In modified apparatus (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) the furnace, instead of being rectangular with two baffles 36, is cylindrical with one annular baffle (66). The tubes (60) form two helical coils in series one within the other with an inlet (62) and an outlet (64).
