Abstract
1487080 Valves; bearings CENTRE D'ETUDES ET DE RECHERCHES DE LA MACHINE-OUTIL 14 Nov 1974 [28 Nov 1973] 49215/74 Headings F2V and F2A A flow limiter for controlling flow from a pressurized annular space 33 to each of four pockets 4 around the shaft 2 of a hydrostatic bearing has a deformable plate 22 with a central thickened portion which is normally spaced from the orifice 20 and is moved relative thereto by the pressure differential across the plate. The plates each have two legs (25) which are received in guide slots (24) in the stepped portions 23. The plates are retained in chambers 32 formed between flats on the outside of an inner annular member 31 and an outer annular member 30. The flow limiters act to increase the pressure in a pocket 4 when the shaft moves towards that pocket to produce a force tending to move the shaft away from that pocket.
