Abstract

1486570 Controlling feedwater to boilers BABCOCK & WILCOX CO 3 Sept 1974 07148/77 Divided out of 1486569 Heading F4A [Also in Division G3] The supply of feedwater to a steam generator is controlled by a demand signal which is modified by a signal representing the amount by which the actual temperature of the water deviates from a desired temperature set by the demand signal. The control is applied to a two boiler single turbine installation having the individual boiler demand signals derived as a ratio of a total demand signal which forms the subject-matter of parent Specification. As shown, the demand signal for boiler A is supplied to the feedwater control valve 74A through sumation elements 87A and 82A and is also supplied to function generator 83A which produces a reference temperature signal. The comparator 86A compares the actual temperature from 84A with this reference and after modification at 88A to account for the steam temperature a signal is added into the valve control signal at 87A to provide a desired flow signal to the retroactive loop controlling valve 74A.
