Abstract

1485871 Adjustable inking apparatus MONARCH MARKING SYSTEMS Inc 30 Aug 1974 [31 Oct 1973] 38066/74 Heading B6C An inking unit which is adjustably positioned between the sidewalls of a printing machine comprises a distributing roller and a forme roller together with an ink supply device to the nip between the rollers and a container extending under the rollers the supports for the various rollers being integral in the unit, a first adjustment moving the ink distributing roller relative to the forme roller and a second adjustment altering the vertical position of the unit to change the relationship between the forme roller and the printing cylinder. The invention is particularly applicable to a label printer, Fig. 1 (not shown), including a printing cylinder 24, forme roller 60 and distributor roller 80 which together with container 100 and cover 42 form the unit, Fig. 2. Ink is fed through pipe 112 to nozzle 110, the surplus passing through outlet 104 to a recirculation system (115), Figs. 1 and 9 (not shown), Adjusting screws 49 allow for movement of the unit with respect to fixed support 44. The rollers 60, 80 are geared to the main drive, while each end of the distributor roller 80 can be adjusted with respect to roller 60 by means of screws 96, Fig. 6, co-operating with sliding plates 72 carrying the journals 78 of roller 80, the plates sliding at an angle to the vertical in recesses 71 formed in brackets (52, 54), Fig. 3 (not shown) which are part of the adiustable unit.
