Abstract

1484863 Spray carburetters ZENITH CARBURETTER CO Ltd 11 Sept 1974 [12 Sept 1973] 9955/77 Divided out of 1484862 Heading F1H The subject-matter of this Specification is identical with that described in the parent Specification, but the main claim is concerned with a cold start device in which a profiled plug valve co-operates with an orifice in an air supply passage which, in use, is connected to an engine intake manifold. A fuel metering orifice communicates with the passage upstream of the orifice and a thermostat, in use, operating automatically in accordance with engine temperature, prevents movement of the valve to close or minimally open the orifice, in response to the manifold vacuum acting (on the valve) against spring bias, until the engine reaches its normal operating temperature.
