Abstract

1484221 Microscopes PRODEV Ltd 25 June 1976 [25 March 1975] 12534/75 Heading G2J An elementary microscope comprises a lensless collimator 19, which incorporates an adjustable aperture, and a lens 2 in the form of a bead. The lens is supported in an axially slidable sleeve 3 which engages the microscope body 5. The slide 6 is adjustably retained between spring 7 and resilient arms 8 forming part of the body 5. The collimator comprises a cylinder 10 mounted transverse to the optic axis and has diametrically opposed apertures 11, 12 through which light passes. One end of the cylinder 10 has a grip by which it may be rotated (not shown) and the other end is open and is guided in a circular track in the body 5. Projections on the open end of the cylinder engage with recesses in the track to give "click-stop" aperture adjustment. The collimator may also include a tapered body passage 19 which is matt black to absorb light that is appreciably "non parallel".
