148,299. Federal Tin Co., (Assignees of Cook, J. J., and Cook, C. H.). Nov. 1, 1915, [Convention date]. Clips, band.-In a clip for hose pipes &c. a band 15, one end of which is bent to form a support 17 and the other end actuated to form a tongue 16, has, eyeleted to it at 25, a drawing-strap 23, the end of which is rolled upon itself to form a coil 24, which serves as a nut for the clamping-screw 19. The support 17 is bent at right-angles to provide a guard 22. In modifications the support 17 may be coiled backwardly and the strap 23 riveted to the band, or the strap, with one or both ends coiled, may pass around the band, or the strap and coil 24 may be bent up from a stampedcut portion of the tongue. In the modification shown in Fig. 10, the band 15 is provided with a relatively long tongue 16<a> terminating in a drawing-strap 23b of reduced width, which passes through an opening 33 in the band and lies flat against the outer face of the band, its free end being provided with a coil 24. In a further modification, the band and drawing-strap are formed integral, and a substantially semi-circular tongue, clipped on to the band, is moved into position to close the throat of the clamp after the latter has been placed on the pipe.
