Abstract

The monoazo dyes correspond, in the form of the free acid, to the formula: <IMAGE> The group ROCONH- is in position 4 or 5 relative to the azo group. R denotes a methylcyclohexyl radical. The compounds of the formula I are prepared a) by coupling a corresponding diazotised amine of the formula: <IMAGE> with 2-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid under acidic conditions; b) by coupling diazotised 4- or 5-nitroaniline-2-sulphonic acid with 2-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid under acidic conditions, reducing the nitro group to an amino group and reacting the product with a chloroformic ester of the formula ROCOCl. The compounds of the formula I are suitable for dyeing or printing synthetic polyamide textiles.
