Abstract

1482025 Resistance heater MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 27 July 1974 33269/74 Heading H5H A heating device comprises a heat radiator 11, a thermistor 1 having a positive temperature coefficient, a varistor 2 connected in series with the thermistor and biasing means 5 urging the varistor and thermistor against the radiator, the varistor limiting the initial current surge through the thermistor upon energization of the device. As shown, the radiator 11 is a plate and the biasing means 5 is a spring forming one terminal of the device, the other terminal comprising a lug 9 on a plate 6 located between the thermistor and radiator. An insulating sheet 10 is sandwiched between the radiator and plate 6, and the thermistor and varistor are enclosed in an insulating casing 7 of inverted U-shaped cross-section, the open end of the casing having a flange which is secured to the radiator 11 by bolts 12.
