Abstract

1481987 Endless chain conveyers WADKIN Ltd 31 Oct 1975 [9 Nov 1974] 48580/74 Heading B8A Conveyer chain links 1, 2 Fig. 2, with a workpiece support surfaces have dogs 15, 25 axially movable by stems 14, 24 in cylindrical bores 13, 23 and wedgeable therein by grub screws 17, 27 expanding segments 16, 26. For adjustable clamping of a workpiece between an engaging plate 18 brazed to the stem 14 and a hold-back plate 30 a screw 31 can move the plate 30 towards and away from the plate 18. Grooves 32-32c allow large adjustments of the space between the plates 18, 30. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 a dog 45 is urged upwards by a spring 50 and wedged by a spring pin 54 engaging a tapered face 55. The dog 45 can be depressed against the spring 50 and can be turned to be held within the bore 43 by engagement of a shoulder 56 with the pin 54. A cap 57 of the dog has a key engaging an offset keyway 58 so that by traversing the cap and clamping it in various positions by a screw 59 the dogs on opposite sides of a workpiece can be aligned.
