Abstract

1481558 Disc brakes BYGG-OCH TRANSPORTEKONOMI (BT) AB 4 Dec 1974 [5 Dec 1973] 52511/74 Heading F2E [Also in Division B7] A motorized ground wheel unit for a vehicle, e.g. a light industrial truck, comprises an electric motor 2 which drives, through gears 6, 7, 10, a ring gear 11 journalled on the casing of motor 2 and carrying a ground wheel 14, the gear 10 projecting into an indentation 16 formed in the motor casing. The illustrated unit further comprises a rotatably driven drum 21 which is axially moved by means of a pivoted arm 28 and a plunger 27 to bring brake lining 25 into engagement with wheel 14. In operation of the illustrated unit, the drum rotates such that fins 22 provided thereon establish a flow of cooling air which passes into the motor from ducts 19 and leaves the motor through openings 23. In a modification of the illustrated unit, the rotatably-driven drum 21 carries a brake lining arranged for braking engagement with a non- rotating flange of the motor casing.
