Abstract

1480570 Dyeing polyacrylonitrile with cationic dyes CASSELLA FARBWERKE MAINKUR AG 22 Dec 1975 [23 Dec 1974] 52332/75 Heading D1B Acrylonitrile and copolymers thereof are dyed with basic dyes in the presence of a levelling agent of formula in which R is a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical of 16 to 18 carbon atoms, R' and R" are H.CH 3 or C 2 H 5 , m and n are 1 or 2 provided that m + n is not more than 3 and X is an anion, especially acetate. The levelling agent is used in amounts of 0.3 to 3% by weight based on the weight of the material 'to be dyed, more than one levelling may be employed. The levelling agents may be dissolved in an equal quantity by weight of 80-100% aqueous or alcoholic acetic acid solution which is then used in the dyeing process.
