Abstract
There is described a material based on a copolymer having a high content of nitrile structural units. It comprises 100 parts by weight of a graft copolymer and from 0.5 to 15 parts by weight of an impact modifier. The graft copolymer is obtainable by emulsion polymerisation of from 50 to 95% by weight, based on the total monomer, of acrylonitrile and/or methacrylonitrile and from 50 to 5% by weight, based on the total monomer, of a vinyl monomer in the presence of a conjugated diene polymer latex. The impact modifier is at least one of the following: a chainlike polyester polymer, a hydrogenated castor oil, an epoxy compound, an organic phosphite, an aliphatic hydrocarbon having from 10 to 35 carbon atoms or a liquid polymer having a molecular weight of from 250 to 10,000. Such a material has excellent properties in respect of impact strength, transparency and fogging, flowability in the melt, gas impermeability, water resistance and thermal stability.
