Abstract

1476458 Liquid dispenser for flush water tanks W BRAUN CO 5 AUG 1974 [6 Aug 1973] 34443/74 Heading B8T [Also in Division E1] An integrally moulded cup-shaped dispensing fitment 19 is provided to fit sealingly in the neck of bottle 13 which is secured by bracket 16 in an inverted position in the toilet flush tank 10, such that drops of liquid such as detergent or disinfectant are discharged into the tank water during flushing, the fitment 19 being provided with a centrally located nozzle structure 23a in the conically-shaped base of the chamber defined by the fitment, said structure comprising a passageway 23c of diameter 0À01 to 0À02 inches and length 1/16 to # inch, a frusto-conical well 23a and a flat-bottomed well 23d at the liquid discharge and entrance ends of the passageway respectively, the water level 11 of the full tank 10 being such that the water extends through the open-end of the fitment chamber but always remains below the nozzle structure, and the water level of the tank after flushing dropping below the open-end of the fitment such that as the water rises again, air from the chamber is forced through the passageway into the bottle and liquid drops are subsequently released during the next flushing cycle to relieve the excess air pressure in the bottle. The dimensions of the fitment and bottle and the surface tension of the liquid are important in determining the rate of liquid discharge, but the volume of the bottle should not be more than 200 times the volume of the fitment chamber. The fitment may have a collar portion integral with the flange 20a and formed for screwing on to the external thread of the bottle neck. A closure, with an inwardly extending sealing pin for sealing the passageway, may be provided for screwing over the open-end of the fitment during storage.
