Abstract

1,164,602. Spray-producers. STERWIN A.G. 8 June, 1967 [13 June, 1966; 15 June, 1966; 23 Aug., 1966], Nos. 26169/66, 26778/66 and 37750/66. Heading B2F. A spray producer suitable for discharging a liquid medicament comprises a bottle 1 provided with resiliently deformable walls 2 and one third filled with the liquid 3, a plug 5 having a nozzle 6 formed in its upper end, said plug being located in the neck 4 of the bottle, and a measuring container 10 positioned within the bottle above the liquid level with the bottle in the upright position and communicating with the nozzle 6 via a riser tube 9. The bottle is tilted to fill the container 10 and the walls 2 are squeezed at least once to force air upwardly through a passage 6a so as to atomize the measured quantity of liquid in the container. The container may be formed integrally with the riser tube, fig. 7 (not shown) or the bottle wall, fig. 3 (not shown), may be located within or directly below the plug in the bottle neck, and may be generally conical or cup-shaped. A drain plate (11), Fig. 4 (not shown) may ensure that the container is filled when the bottle is tilted. A spring loaded valve (16), Fig. 16 (not shown) may control the air inlet (15) to the nozzle 6, the valve being opened when pressure is applied to the bottle walls. The neck of the bottle may be provided with a closure cap.
