Abstract

1475986 Abrasive belts SIACO Ltd 30 May 1974 [1 March 1973] 9942/73 Heading C4V [Also in Division B3] An abrasive belt comprises a main layer having an abrasive on one face thereof, and on the other face thereof a backing formed by a pressure-sensitive tape comprising glass or synthetic plastics fibre reinforcement embedded in an adhesive layer on a supporting layer. The abrasive may be grains of aluminium oxide or silicon carbide and the main layer may be of cloth. The fibres may be randomly oriented, longitudinally oriented or woven, specified plastics being nylon and rayon. Specified materials for the supporting layer which may be narrower than the main layer or of the same width are polyester or vinyl films and paper.
