Abstract

1473431 Rear-view mirrors FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 9 Oct 1975 [21 Dec 1974] 41359/75 Heading B7J An external rear-view mirror assembly comprises a member 2 for attachment to a motor vehicle, a vertical post 3 for attachment to said member 2 and a mirror housing 4 detachably secured to the post 3 in one of two positions which are offset through 180 degrees about an axis disposed perpendicularly to the vertical post to provide a left-hand or right-hand version of said mirror assembly. The member 2 and vertical post 3 co-operate through partspherical surfaces to permit adjustment of the assembly. The mirror housing has snapconnectors 20 along one edge for engagement with apertures 19 in the vertical post and a slot 17 for receiving the mirror 14. In a modification the vertical post and abutting side edge of the mirror housing have a co-operating dove-tail joint, a detent pip and recess being provided along the co-operating surfaces of the joint to locate the two parts in a longitudinal direction.
