Abstract

1472732 Fire fighting apparatus for a ship DANBURY DRILLING Ltd and REARDON SMITH EXPLORATION Ltd 14 July 1975 [23 May 1975] 22513/75 Heading A5A A fire fighting apparatus for use on the deck of a ship comprises a plurality of motors 1 driving fire extinguishant or structure coolant pumps 2 which feed extinguishant or coolant via pump outlet main folds 8 and ring main 9 to user pipes 10 forming part of a tower structure on which are mounted fire extinguishant or coolant monitors 14. The tower contains a control cabin 12 from which the monitors 14 may be remotely controlled. The pumps take in sea water via pipes 4 hung over the ships side. In a second embodiment the water is pumped to a foam inductor to produce foam for the monitors. A cooling extinguishant spray curtain 15 around the lower and a gunwale spray curtain from a ring main 16 are also provided.
