Abstract

1472512 Advancing mine roof supports GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 23 Jan 1975 [28 Jan 1974] 3060/75 Heading E1P In a mine roof support assembly comprising a plurality of universally mounted hydraulic props 12 disposed between a floor member 10 and at least one roof bar 11, and having guide means connecting a goaf shield 18, 18' to the floor member in order to permit the shield to pivot in relation thereto as the props are actuated, means 19 are provided to permit a degree of universal movement between the shield and the roof bar or bars. The means 19, see also Fig. 2 (not shown) comprises a guide-piece and pivot pins connecting same to the roof bar and shield for pivotal movement about two perpendicular axes; the upper end of the guide piece having tapered abutment surfaces to engage the underside of the roof bar. The joint means 19 and pivotal mounting bars 20, 21 for the shield constitute a lemniscate guide means for the latter.
