Abstract

1471360 Device for treating the human back T MURAMATSU 7 Aug 1974 [16 Aug 1973] 34818/74 Heading A5R A device for treating the human back, comprises a pair of elongate spaced pressing members 22 each having a semi circular crosssection upper surface 24 having a curved top end 24a for pressing said back, and a foot section 23 which is slidable in a longitudinal groove 21 in an elongate bed plate 20, the curved top ends being juxtaposed and members 22 being fixable with a desired spacing therebetween. The members 22 may be fixed in position by a plate 27 positioned therebetween which engages a vertical piece 26 formed on an extension 23a of each foot section when screwed down, the spacing between members 22 being limited by the engagement of each vertical piece with a respective downwardly extending stop 28 on said plate. The upper surface of each pressing member may slope down towards its respective curved end. In an alternative embodiment, the walls of the groove have teeth (60) Fig. 6 (not shown), engageable with complementary teeth (62) on each pressing member, each pressing member having flexible, vertical plates (64) on its underside, said plates being frictionally engageable with at least one row of projections (61) in the groove.
