Abstract

1471216 Mechanical switches BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE AG 29 April 1974 [3 May 1973] 18739/74 Heading H1N An electric switch installed in a motor vehicle for operating the parking lights independently of the direction indicator switch has a mechanical operator 3, Fig. 1, of its own for switching a movable contact 11 to its "left", "right" and "off" positions and has an automatic restoring device operable by movements of the steering column 24. The switch has a rocker 3 carrying a spring-loaded plunger 9 which rides over the movable contact 11 for engagement with fixed contacts 14, 16. The spring 10 is sufficiently strong to hold the rocker 10 in its operated positions against the action of restoring springs 22, 23 acting on projections 6, 7 of the rocker 10. Slidable spring blades 20, 21 engaged by a projection 25 on the steering column 24 engage the projections 6, 7 to restore the switch to its "off" position. The switch is stated to be actuable by the lever of the adjacent direction indicator switch when set in the "headlight beam on" position.
