Abstract
1469240 Leakage tests; measuring curvature; photo-electric bottle seal testing J. LYONS & CO Ltd 26 Nov 1974 [7 Sept 1973] 42266/73 Headings G1A, G1M and G1S [Also in Division G2] Optical apparatus for detecting the faulty sealing of bottles 1 on a production line comprises a light source 3, lens systems 4 and 12 and a detector 13 the arrangement being such that if the beam 11 reflected from the top 2a of the bottle cap 2 is focused by the lens system 12 on to the detector 13 to give maximum intensity of light then the sealing is satisfactory and the bottle is not rejected. A logic circuit 14 is adapted to operate an audible or visible signalling apparatus 15 when the maximum light intensity is not received and/or to operate an ejector 16 to eject those bottles which have not been sealed.
