Abstract
1339738 Flaw detector BARRY-WEHMILLER CO 16 Dec 1970 [11 March 1970] 59803/70 Heading G1A In an apparatus, Fig.2, for detecting flaws in a transparent or translucent container C light from a source 39 which has passed through the container C is reflected by a mirror 20 towards an image scanning arrangement which comprises two lenses 27 and 28 a rotating dove prism 24 and a number of photo-cells 31, 32, 33. The mirror 20 may be planar cylindrically concave, Figs.4, 4A (not shown), or cylindrically convex Figs.5, 5A (not shown) in order that the apparatus may accommodate different shaped containers C by providing different fields of view for the detectors. The test is initiated by a presence detector 16, 17. Different sizes or shapes of container are catered for by having the source 39 mounted in a light box 14 that slides on rails (15), Fig.1 (not shown), and by mounting the mirror 20 in a box 18 which can be adjustably mounted in a sleeve 49. Two rotatable members carry a plurality of collimating lenses 27 and focusing lenses 28 respectively, different sets of lenses being brought into alignment with the optical axis of the prism by twisting knob 48.
