Abstract

1468339 Sound cine cameras K VOCKENHUBER and R HAUSER 11 April 1974 [14 June 1973] 04418/76 Divided out of 1467342 Heading G2E In a cinÚ camera having a sound recording head, the film is guided for transmission between a capstan and a pressure means, which can be moved together or apart, and an operating means can effect such movement. As shown, the handle of the camera 101 has at the front a release 120, and at the back a pivotable bar 171. The film F is threaded between a pinch roller 109 and a capstan 108, shown in Fig. 2A in a spaced-apart position. When the two are in contact the film is trans- ported between them. Roller 109 is carried by a block 186 which can slide on a rod 185 attached at its lower end to a cam 177, and the block is urged upwards by a spring 187. Release 120 is mounted on a slide 173 ending in a prod 174. In the Fig. 2A position the prod abuts the cam 177, and then the release cannot be pressed. If the handle is grasped in the normal way, bar 171 is pressed, so that cam 177 is pivoted anti-clockwise into the Fig. 2B position. Rod 185 is moved upwards so that roller 109 is almost touching capstan 108, this being the "standby" position. An arm 182 of cam 177 also closes a switch 183, which completes a circuit from the batteries housed in the camera handle to the exposure meter. When release 120 is pressed, the prod 174 pivots cam 177 more clockwise still, so that roller 109 is now brought into positive engagement with capstan 108, and the film F is transported Fig. 2C, (not shown). At the same time a switch 172 is closed which energizes the film drive motor 106. If bar 171 is released while release 120 is still pressed, cam 177 cannot return to the Fig. 1 position, and the electrical circuits remain closed. In Fig. 4 (not shown), a different mechanical linkage with bar 171, which is also differently disposed in the camera, is disclosed. In Figs. (not shown) 5 and 6, movement of the pinch roller is controlled by pressure either on a forehead support or on the view-finder eye-piece.
