Abstract

1466301 Antiskid braking systems KELSEY-HAYES CO 16 Aug 1974 [4 Sept 1973] 36217/74 Heading F2F An antiskid braking system includes a wheel sensor 14 providing an output signal representative of wheel speed and skid detecting means 18 responsive to the wheel speed sensor output signal for providing an output signal having a first substantially constant magnitude in response to a skid condition having a severity between first and second predetermined degrees of severity and a second different substantially constant magnitude in response to a skid condition having a severity above the second predetermined degree of severity. The said output signal results in an output signal from a driver circuit 28 controlling a brake pressure modulator 16. Under certain severe skid conditions a holding circuit 22 maintains the driver output signal for a predetermined time after dissipation of the output of detector 18 and if the wheel attains a predetermined acceleration rate a skid recovery detector 20 provides an output signal which takes precedence over the signal of holding circuit 22 and circuit 18 to allow reapplication of braking pressure. A skid detector inhibit circuit 30 prevents detector circuit 18 from providing an output signal during the existence of a skid recovery detector output signal. A saturation limiting feedback circuit 32 adjusts the response of the skid detector when the wheel deceleration exceeds an upper deceleration threshold, a low speed detector 34 disables the feedback circuit to provide delayed termination of the skid detector output signal when the wheel speed is below a predetermined low speed threshold and an output logic section 36 establishes the response of the output driver 28 to the other circuits.
