Abstract

Cephem compounds of the accompanying formula I are prepared. In this formula R<1> denotes a free or protected amino group, preferably an acylamido group; and Y denotes the radical of a thiourea bonded via sulphur, which thiourea can be substituted, or denotes thioamide, thiol or thiophenol. The compounds can additionally carry further substituents in the 2- or 7-position. These compounds are distinguished by an antibiotic activity and can be employed in human and veterinary medicine. Of these compounds, those in which R<1> denotes an acylamido group and Y corresponds to a pyrid-2-ylthio radical are preferred on account of their activity against a multiplicity of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. The compounds of the formula I are prepared by reaction of the corresponding 3-vinyl compound with a thiourea, substituted thiourea, thioamide, thiol or thiophenol. <IMAGE>
