Abstract

1462630 Photographic processing composition containing encapsulated reflecting agent POLAROID CORP 11 Dec 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 57379/73 Heading G2C An aqueous alkaline photographic processing composition comprises a dispersion of particles of reflecting agent which are encapsulated by a polymeric material. The reflecting agent may be a white pigment e.g. titanium dioxide. The amount of polymeric material may be at least 2 wt. per cent of the encapsulated reflecting agent. The polymeric material encapsulates the particles and may also provide strands of inter-connecting tissues bridging several encapsulated particles (see Examples I and 2). The polymeric material may be a hydrophobic acrylic polymer. The composition may contain an onium compound and an optical filter agent. The composition may be used in a silver salt diffusion transfer or colour transfer process. The encapsulation of the reflecting agent prevents its phase separation and resulting dark or white streaks on the transfer image depending on whether light sensitive diffusion transfer material is processed in the dark or light respectively.
