Abstract

1462156 Portable abrading tool TRYCKLUFTMASKINER I KUNGALV AB 16 Sept 1975 [24 Sept 1974] 37972/75 Heading B3D [Also in Division F4] A portable sanding or abrading tool comprises a compressed air motor 10 enclosed in a handle for driving a rotatable support 13 for a sanding or abrading disc, a fan housing 15 mounted on the handle and enclosing the support, an annular screen member including a grommet of parallel bristles 18 mounted on the housing, a fan rotor 14 mounted to rotate with the support, and an exhaust conduit 21 from the air motor connected to an outlet passage 19 of the fan housing to induce an ejector action in the passage. The motor, which provides the main handle for the tool and also has a lateral handle 12, drives the support 13 through bevel gearing, compressed air being supplied through a hose 11. The fan rotor 14 is mounted on the shaft for the support and is disposed within the housing 15 secured to the motor. The annulus of bristles is secured by a rubber diaphragm 17 to the housing, the diaphragm being eccentrically located so that the resiliency is higher adjacent the handle than at the front of the tool. Dust and gases are directed by the fan through the outlet passage 19 to a suction and filtering device, the exhaust conduit 21 from the motor being directed into the passage which is shaped to have an ejector action.
