1460494 Disazo reactive dyestuffs NIPPON KAYAKU KK 4 April 1974 [7 April 1973] 14989/74 Heading C4P Fibre-reactive disazo dyestuffs have the formula where A is a benzene residue not containing a sulphonic acid group; B is a benzene or naphthalene residue containing at least one sulphonic acid group with the -O- group ortho to the azo link and A and B may be substituted by one or more from NO 2 , CN, OH, COOH, Cl, methyl, methoxy, or acetylamino; one of Z 1 and Z 2 is H and the other is a group of formula where R is H or methyl; hal is Cl or Br; X is Cl or Br, C 1-3 mono- or di-alkyl or hydroxyalkyl-amino, cyclohexylamino, morpholino, piperidino, methylthio, ethylthio, 2-hydroxyethylthio, anilino which may be substituted by SO 3 H, COOH, NO 2 , Cl, methyl, N-methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy, acetylamino, sulphamoyl, 2- sulphatoethylsulphonyl, 2 - chloroethylsulphonyl, vinylsulphonyl and cyano; phenylthio optionally substituted by methyl, NO 2 , Cl, or SO 3 H; C 1-3 alkoxy, phenoxy optionally substituted by methyl, NO 2 , Cl, or SO 3 H; C 1-3 alkoxyalkylamino, carboxymethylamino, 2- sulphoethylamino, N - (2 - hydroxyethylamino)-methylamino, amino or naphthylamino which may contain 1 or more SO 3 H groups. The dyes are prepared by reacting the corresponding dyes in which one of Z 1 and Z 2 is replaced by -NHR with a triazine of formula above in which the group -N(R) is replaced by hal; in the case where a cyanuric halide is used the resulting dye is further reacted with a compound of formula X<SP>1</SP>-H where X<SP>1</SP> has the same meaning as X apart from Cl or Br. The starting disazo compounds are prepared by diazotizing the appropriate amine and coupling to the corresponding copper complexed monoazo dyestuff, either of which contains a substituent convertible to an amino group; followed by formation of the amino group. The dyes are used for colouring various fibrous materials, particularly cotton, hemp, viscose rayon, polyvinyl alcohol, wool and polyamide, in purple or navy blue shades.
