Abstract
1459831 Sprinkler system L C KAH 13 March 1974 11198/74 Heading AID [Also in Divisions F2 and G3] A sprinkler system comprises valves 50 (see Division F2) for delivering irrigating water to different areas, the valves being selectively operated by the pressure of water supplied to a signal pipe 14 by a pressure selector 10. The valves 50 are connected by conduits 6 to a main water supply 2, 2A and by conduits 8 to sprinkler units 4. The pressure A in the signal tube 14 is monitored by a pressure sensing transducer in the signal control means 10 and compared with the selected pressure B by means of an electrical signal. If A is larger than B, line 14 is automatically connected via a valve to dump line 30 to reduce the pressure and if A is less than B, line 14 is automatically linked to the pressure source 12 until the desired pressure is achieved. An automatic electronic signal producing device may be provided to produce electrical signals in a given sequence so that the corresponding areas are irrigated in that sequence. Each valve 50 comprises a spring biased diaphragm which can only be passed by the main flow of water when the pressure signal activates a valve which allows the pressure on one side of the diaphragm to alter to that pressure to which the particular valve 50 is adjusted.
