Abstract

1459694 Connector UTILUX PTY Ltd 16 April 1974 [16 April 1973] 16662/74 Heading H2E A female connector 10 to accept a blade contact comprises a folded-over wall 44-45-48- 50 and unfolded wall 40, both springing from base 38, the web 50 separating chambers 52 and 54 connected by a small gap 56. The entering male contact, guided by converging lips 60 on all four faces of chamber 54, rides over pressedinward ribs 58 in base 38 to be gripped by pressure from roof 50 of chamber 54. On the outside of base 38 and walls 40, 44 two stiffening ribs 51 are pressed outward. Base 38 continues via bridging section 16 away from mouth 60, in a channel-form crimping tab 12 with pressed through resilient tangs 36 in the base 18 to penetrate cable insulation when flanks 20, 22 with inwardly pressed domes 32 are crimped over the cable. Alternatively the tab 12 may be a flag connector (not shown) turned at right angles to base 38. Ribs 51 may be replaced by outwardly pressed grooves or dimples (as seen from inside) and ribs 58 by an inwardly pressed dimple (as seen from outside).
