Abstract
1459182 Screw assembly LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd 14 Feb 1974 [22 Dec 1972] 59316/72 Heading F2H A screw threaded assembly comprises a screw 10, and a nut 15, the screw 10 having a locking surface or surfaces, and the nut having a projection or projections 20 which deform inwardly on tightening the nut against an opposing surface into engagement with the locking surface or surfaces to lock the nut to the screw. The locking surfaces may be provided by means of flats 13 or a cross-cut (Fig. 6, not shown). Projection 20 may be a continuous annulus, or a series of projections may be provided. A projection or projections may be provided also at opposite sides of the nut. The screw and nut may be of pressure die-cast zinc alloy. Alternatively the nut may be steel, brass or aluminium alloy. The screw may be hexagonal headed or be a hook or an eye-bolt. The nut may be hexagonal or of knurled cylindrical shape.
