1458932 Sieves HUTTER & SCHRANTZ AG 3 April 1975 13639/75 Heading B2H A sieve element comprises a rectangular moulding 1, e.g. of plastics, formed with a plurality of sieving apertures 2 and having on two opposed side edges a plurality of toothlike projections 3, 4, each projection being provided with a hole 5 aligned with those of the other projections along the same edge, the projections 'being formed such that, in the construction of a sieve, two edges of two elements may be disposed next to each other with the projections inter-engaged and with the holes of the projections provided along both edges aligned whereby a rod (11), Fig. 4 (not shown), may be inserted into all the aligned holes to hold the two elements together. Preferably each projection 3 along one edge lies opposed to a space between two projections 4 along the other, opposed edge. On each of the other two opposed sides of the moulding there is a flange 6 or 7 in which metal reinforements are bedded. A rib 9 on flange 6 of an element is adapted to engage within a recess 10 on flange 7 of an adjacent element. The two ends of the rod (11) are threaded to receive nuts (12). Fillers (13) may be provided in the spaces between the projections of those elements at the edges of a completed sieve and scoured in like manner with a rod (11) so as to give the sieve a flat outer periphery. If the size of a required sieve does not correspond to an exact multiple of the size of the mouldings 1, the edge mouldings are out off where required and provided with glued-on edge pieces (14).
