Abstract

1456344 Step-by-step jacks; propelling elevators ETABS MATENIN SA 23 Jan 1975 [25 Jan 1974] 3079/75 Headings B8J and B8L Apparatus, shown in plan view, for pushing articles (not shown), step-by-step in the direction of the arrow F comprises an hydraulic piston and cylinder unit 19 with the piston 21 connected to a chassis member 23 mounted by rollers 27 on a horizontal beam 3 for movement therealong and a chassis member 22 similarly mounted on the beam 3 and connected to the cylinder 20. An article handling arm 1 extends from the chassis member 22 outwardly of the beam, (a similar arm 2 may be provided on the chassis member 23, as shown). The chassis members 22, 23 co-operate with respective rows of ratchet teeth 10a, 10b, 10c and 12a, 12b, 12c through spring loaded pawls 14, 16. As the unit 19 is extended and contracted so the arms 1, 2 perform a step-by-step movement. The apparatus may be arranged with the beam 3 vertical so as to lift articles for placing on shelves.
