Abstract

1455300 Building assembly P BENEDETTI and S BENEDETTI 7 Dec 1973 [8 Dec 1972] 56749/73 Heading E1A An assembly for forming a building comprises at least two networks of lattice beams 11 for providing roof or floor support each network comprising a plurality of trussed beams 11 releasably interconnected by short posts 14 substantially equal to the height of the beams so that the beams extend laterally from the posts, and a plurality of main posts 10 of length corresponding to the storey height for spacing the networks by releasably fixing the ends of the main posts to respective ends of aligned short posts, one above the other. Wall panels 31 may be fixed to the beams 11 to provide an outer cladding by hooks 45 provided with vertical adjustment screws 47. The wall panels may be of square cross section tubular metal frames faced internally with metal, plywood or asbestos cement and externally with cement glass, stone or metal while being filled with expanded polystyrene or polyurethane or phenolic foam. Alternatively the wall panels may be integrally moulded plastics shells cemented to both sides of a foam filled metal frame. Cells 23 of a flat drained roof may be replaced by a transparent openable cupola or by a conventional pitched roof of tiles. In the building interior a vertically extending service or stair module may occupy the space between successive grid mesh openings in adjacent floors. Wood or plastics false ceiling panels may be provided with reinforcing ribs 30a.
