Abstract

1455029 Optical apparatus MESSERSCHMITT-BOLKOW-BLOHM GmbH 18 April 1974 [26 April 1973] 17119/74 Heading G2J Optical apparatus for checking the alignment of a telescope sight with respect to the line of sight of a coupled infrared goniometer 1, is adjustably attached over an object aperture 2 of the goniometer and comprises two concave mirrors 11, 12 having a common optical axis 17 and having their concave surface facing each other, a source 13 of visible and infrared radiation positioned at the focal point of the mirror 11, and an eye-piece 16 focused on the focal point of the second mirror 12; the mirror 11 particles transmits visible light and reflects 1-R radiation while the mirror 12 reflects visible light and transmits 1-R radiation; the optical system is adjusted with respect to the goniometer until an image of a distant object, sighted in the telescope, is seen through the eyepiece 16 in super-position with an image of a diaphragm 14 illuminated by the source 13. In this adjusted position of the apparatus, rays 21, of 1-R radiation entering the goniometer 1 are parallel to rays of light 23 from said object and therefore parallel to those entering the telescope. The goniometer is then adjusted to bring its line of sight parallel to the rays 21. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, each mirror 11, 12 is apertured along the axis 17 and is covered by a plane mirror 41, 42 having a central aperture. The diaphragm 14 is defined by the apertured mirror 41.
