Abstract

1378852 Sighting telescope BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 15 March 1972 [21 Dec 1970] 60657/70 Heading G2J A sighting telescope for a missile aiming system has a folded optical path incorporating a mirror 1 between the objective 2 and eye-piece 5, the mirror having an aperture 10 on the optical axis and a light source, shown as an optic fibre 9, projecting radiation on to the object sighted. The result is a dark patch on the target image which can be illuminated from 13 to present a light patch if this is more easily seen. A suitable mirror 14 deflects some of the retaining light to a detector 17 associated with an automatic aiming device not disclosed.
