Abstract

1454847 Jacks METALLIFACTURE Ltd 20 Sept 1974 [4 May 1974] 19711/74 Heading B8J A jack comprises an elongate cranked member 11 to which is pivoted an end part 16 of an arm 15 carrying a load supporting member 28 at its other end 23. A nut 21 is pivotally mounted at upper end 20 of portion 12 of the member 11 and is engaged by a screw 25 mounted in a socket member 22 at end 23 of the arm 15. In use, to lift a load, from the piston shown, with portion 13 of the member 11 lying on the ground, a handle 26 is used to rotate the screw 25 to draw the end parts 20, 23 together, the member 11 pivoting about its foot 30 from the position shown to a generally upright position, Fig. 2, (not shown), teeth 31, 32 on the foot 30 successively engaging the ground to prevent slipping.
