1454444 Air sifters ZEMENTANLAGEN BAU DESSAU VEB 20 Feb 1974 [30 March 1973] 7685/74 Headings B2H and B2P A device for uniformly dispersing material to be sifted in the sifting zone of an air sifter comprises a rotatable plate 1 provided on one side with guide blades 3 arranged radially or at an angle to radii of the plate and extending inwardly from the outer edge of the plate to a distance not greater than half of the radius of plate, a cover 2 secured to the guide blades on the side thereof remote from the plate 1, the plate being mounted on a carrier 5, 6, secured to a drive shaft and means for supplying sifting air and material to be sifted to flow outwardly between the guide blades. As shown in Fig. 1, the material to be sifted falls freely down a cylindrical jacket 9 having louvres 7 for tangential introduction of air (in this case dustladen air from the sifting zone of the sifter). The material is entrained in a helical movement with the air down the jacket 9 and passes down a collar 4 on to that portion of the plate I where there are no guide blades. The material is evenly distributed and passes with the air in between the guide blades, the latter flinging the material outwardly into the separating zone and causing the air to enter the sifting zone in a rotational manner. Counter-blades 12 are secured to a plate 8 connected to the cover 2. In Fig. 3, there are no collar 4 and no support plate 8. The material and air are fed to the space between the plate 1 and cover 2 by means of a vertical pneumatic conveyor pipe 11 through a labyrinth ring seal 10. The counterblades are secured directly to the plate 1.
