Abstract

1454098 Storage systems PIANELLI & TRAVERSA SNC 24 Oct 1973 [26 Oct 1972] 49478/73 Heading A4T A warehouse has a storage system comprising parallel rows of racks 10 spaced by passageways 11 each row consisting of vertical columns of compartments which open at their sides facing the passageways, are directly opposed across the passageways, have base supports 22 at the same respective levels and base support extensions 22a, 22b projecting into the passageways. Goods are stored in the warehouse by operating a mobile stacking device 15 to discharge containers 20 of goods laterally into the compartments to lie clear of the extensions 22a, 22b, and then operating the stacking device 15 to fill each passageway with containers 20a by discharging the containers so that they extend across the passageway and rest on opposed extensions 22a, 22b. The device 15 may be controlled by a driver or be automatic in which case it has a guide 14 and comprises a gantry 16 upon which a raisable platform 17 and forks 19 are provided.
