Abstract

1452280 Co-ordinate measuring machine BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO Ltd 1 March 1974 [2 March 1973] 10208/73 Heading G1M A three co-ordinate probe carrying measuring machine comprises, first and second carriages movable in two of the co-ordinate directions respectively, and a rotatable work table 10, Fig. 1, supported by compressed air supplied via three channels (28), Fig. 2 (not shown) and lockable in any position about the axis of its bearing pin 14, Fig. 3, by pivoting a lever 38 to clamp a disk 34 fixed to the hub 17 against friction material provided upon a screw head 35. Located at 15 degree intervals around the table are targets 70 of magnetic material which may be sensed by sensors 65 fixed in the base. This device enables the position of the table to be set at 15 degree intervals by means of circular and vernier scales, the setting being indicated on a meter 71 in a display panel 69. A probe 2 is mounted on a slidable carrier 74 which is so mounted to move in a second carriage 84 counterweighted to slide vertically up a column 80 itself movable on a first carriage 76. The various carriages slide on adjustable guide bars and may be given fine positional control and held by clamping arrangements. Relative movements in the various co-ordinate directions are measured by transducers and displayed on the panel 69.
