Abstract

1451063 Soothing teats; toy rattles LEWIS WOOLF GRIPTIGHT Ltd 27 Dec 1973 [13 Jan 1973] 1893/73 Headings A5R and A6S A baby soother comprises a teat 10 and a handle portion 11 which are separately formed from flexible material and are secured together with a shield 12 located over and around integral flanges 10a, 11a formed on the teat base and on the handle periphery respectively, said flanges being juxtaposed and there being a chemical and a mechanical bond between the shield the teat, and the handle portion. The shield is moulded from a flexible material, the teat and handle being formed by a latex dip process. The teat may contain a jelly material or other flexible or a rigid material. The disc-shaped handle and/or the shield may contain decorative inserts. The handle portion may have depressions 13 providing finger grips. In another embodiment, the teat and handle have interlocking formations instead of flanges. The handle may be moulded and formed with a ring and a portion for securement to the teat. Rattles A hollow capsule may be incorporated in the handle portion containing e.g. beads to make a rattle-type soother.
