Abstract

1448968 Knives CBS Inc 4 March 1975 [11 April 1974] 8956/75 Heading B4B A swivel knife comprises a blade unit 13 including a cylindrical body portion 14 fitted with a blade 25 and rotatably mounted in a handle 11 which is provided with a slot 16 aligned with a groove 15 in the body, and a manually actuable retaining means comprising a spring wire 18 inserted, at one end, in a bore 18 and formed, at the other end with a loop 19 which co-operates with the groove through the slot, the wire being actuable by bending against a spring bias thereof to disengage it from the groove and thereby permit removal of the body portion from the handle. The blade 25 is pressfitted into the body, e.g. of plastics material, the latter being rotatable in the bore 12 in the handle; a ball-bearing 19a is located in the bore to facilitate rotation of the body. In a modification, the blade is formed integrally with a metal body portion.
