Portable turning-apparatus; cutters. - Relates to an easy-repair valve or faucet provided with a self-contained supply of spare washers and cutting and polishing tools for truing up and re-grinding or polishing valve seats and replacing worn washers. The valve member comprises a magazine tube B, Fig. 1, or a magazine stud, carrying the closure washer C, a cushion washer A, a polishing washer N, spare closure washers E, and a cutting or milling washer H, the whole being secured together to the spindle by a spring-ring G or other spring clip. The spindle J is fitted with a flanged turning knob Z, the flange Z' being normally pressed by an internal spring O upon the top of the actuating screw cap W. In this position an automatic clutch cross-pin M engages the sides of the slot L in the top of the cap W. At the initial moment of closure the rotation of the cap W, acting through the pin M, rotates the closure member on its seat under pressure of the spring O to remove dirt; subsequently, however, the pin is released, as shown, so that the valve member is forced to its seat by the straight thrust of the cap W on the shoulder J<1> of the spindle. The cushion member A may be replaced by elastic metal washers. Fig. 3 shows a reversible cutting and polishing washer. To facilitate repairs pressure is cut off under the valve seating by an automatic under valve or by the manually-actuated valve A', B<1>, Fig. 1.
