1447552 Two-part connector LES CABLES DE LYON 30 Nov 1973 [30 Nov 1972] 55749/73 Heading H2E A connector for a high frequency coaxial cable having an outer tubular conductor and an external insulating sheath comprises an inner ring 25 to secure round the bared end 6 of the outer conductor 2, an end body 24 to engage around the inner ring and the end of the cable, an outer ring 23 secured to the end body 24 around the inner ring, an annular spacer 26 to engage between faces of the inner ring and the end body and a seal ring 22 to provide fluid tight seal between the inside of the cable and the ambient atmosphere, when compressed by the constraint of the inner ring 25 and spacer 26 by the assembly of the outer ring and end body. When the outer conductor is helically corrugated the inner ring may have matching corrugations. The outer ring 23 and end body 24 may be secured to each other by screw thread. The seal may have a radially inward groove 13 as shown to receive the outward turned end of the conductor, or it may be substantially X- shaped in cross-section (Fig. 3, not shown) with the conductor end lying between the seal and a plane radial end face of the inner ring. The usual insulating ring 28 with seals 29 is fitted between the inner contact member 30 and the outer assembly and a stopring 31, welded 32 to the end body, with associated coupling ring 33 is provided to terminate the connector.
