Abstract

1447207 Fuel injection pumps STANADYNE Inc 10 Feb 1975 [22 March 1974] 5520/75 Heading F1A In a rotary distributer fuel injection pump comprising a multi-lobed cam ring 46 for imparting via rollers 56 and shoes 58, inward movement to pumping plungers 42 reciprocable in radial bores 40 in a rotor 12, the outward strokes of the plungers 42 are controlled by adjusting the axial spacing between rings 66, 68 provided with conical inner surfaces 64 against which the ends 62 of the rollers 56 abut to limit the outward movement. The spacing between the rings 66, 68 is adjustable by actuating a plunger 86 slidable in a bore 88. A connector 84 fixed to the plunger 86 is received in a peripheral notch 82 in the ring 68, whereby axial movement of the plunger causes rotation of the ring 68. This rotation is converted into axial movement by co-operation between axially fixed buttons 76 and inclined cam surfaces (74) on the outer axial face of the ring 68. Springs 67 located in axial bores in the cam ring 46 urge the ring 68 against the buttons 76. To maintain the axes of the rollers 56 parallel to the rotor axis, each shoe 58 is provided with a groove 90, Fig. 2, which slidably receives one of the radial edges of a trapezoidal guide-plate secured in a radial slot 94 in the periphery of the rotor 12.
