Abstract

1446822 Shearing; making electrical connections RELIABLE ELECTRIC CO 9 May 1974 [6 June 1973] 20629/74 Headings B3W and B3A A tool for inserting an insulated wire into a slot in a clip terminal comprises a wire pusher and a wire cutter spaced therefrom, pushing the wire from a notch leading to the slot into the slot causing the insulation to be cut through and movement of the cutter relative to the pusher cutting the wire inserted in the slot by the pusher at a predetermined distance beyond the terminal. A tool capable of inserting a wire 35 in two aligned clips 11 is shown in which notches 48, in walls 43, 46 and 44, 47 form recesses to receive the terminals, and cross walls 49 engage the wire and press it into the slots 23, edges 21a, 21b cutting through the insulation. Further movement of the tool head 61 against the action a spring (50) Fig. 5 (not shown) causes a cutter 51 comprising one cutting edge or as shown two, 51a, 51b, to sever the wire between the terminals. The terminals are located in a strip 10 and have contact tips 29, 30, Fig. 2; on ends 26, (27) which engage the edge portion 14 of a printed circuit board. Guides, integral with the strip 10 as shown at 17 or apertured members stuck or screwed to the strip, flank the terminals.
